Just what is a hernia ?

Simply put a hernia  is a hole.  Mostly we speak of hernias in the abdominal wall, but there are other types as well ( futures posts)  In the case of groin hernias which we as refer to as inguinal hernias – the hernia is the hole in the abdominal wall of the groin.    There are three type of groin hernias – direct indirect and femoral.  From an adult  patient point of view they are essentially equally. Each one of these will be discussed in greater detail in the future
